With an updated look coming to St. Laurent Centre it is only fitting that the mall took the opportunity to showcase the stylish, affordable fashions they are known for at a charity event in support of St. Joes Women's Centre.

A collection of community supporters banded together to raise funds for the women's center, which offers a day program dedicated to the needs of women and their children. Services include nutritious meals, emergency support, educational programs, crisis intervention and more, all in a safe and supportive environment. Social and educational programs are offered to promote empowerment, autonomy and dignity in a non-judgmental atmosphere.

The fundraising evening was put together with a group of volunteers that included Ottawa At Home style and beauty contributor Melissa Shabinsky. Giving Back columnist Catherine Clark was the event MC and editor-in-chief Mary Taggart was a celebrity model along with a fun-loving group of community supporters.

Renowned stylist Erica Wark worked magic on the runway outfitting the models to suit their personalities, contributing to the fun factor and showing off the diversity of St. Laurent Centre, which is undergoing a major make-over. Carrie Irvine, marketing director for the mall emphasizes their dedication to its clientele and says  "At St. Laurent we are all about fun, affordable fashion for the whole family. Our community involvement is important to us and the St. Joe's Fashion Show reflected that spirit of giving back while having fun doing it! Erica Wark gave the show fashion cred as one of Canada's top stylists and the celebrity models added personality and playfulness that was contagious - all for a great cause. We like to support local organizations that empower women and children to make a difference."

Not only did the event raise funds and awareness for the cause it made the audience hungry for the vibrant spring fashions that clearly bring out a playful side in those who wear them!
