Itâ€™s happening, Ottawa! Nordstrom, the upscale US retailer, is moving into the Rideau Centre March 6th, 2015, bringing a shopping experience to the capital that will be appreciated by chic consumers lamenting the closing of Holt Renfrew in February 2015.
Nordstrom plans to enter the local scene with impact by incorporating a philosophy that embraces giving back to the local community. On March 4th the doors will open to the new store with an evening of dining, cocktails, entertainment and shopping! The $100 ticket to the Nordstrom Ottawa Gala offers guests the bragging rights to being the first to shop in the 157,000 square foot store along with supporting two local charities. Both The Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation and the United Way Ottawaâ€™s Project Step will be the beneficiaries of the evening proceeds.
Linda Egan, President and CEO of the Cancer Foundation says â€śthe funds raised at the Nordstrom gala opening are going to be invested in providing local families with access to personal care that focuses on their individual needs and empowermentâ€ť.
Nordstrom is widely recognized for their strong dedication to community and local charities and they plan to enter the Ottawa market with a generous spirit. They are covering all costs associated with the event, allowing for 100% of the profits to be given directly to the charities. â€śAs a company, it has always been a priority for us to give back to the communities that we serve before we open our doors,â€ť said John Banks, Nordstrom Rideau Centre store manager.
