With many successful years behind the event, this year's Homes for the Holidays 2014 co-chairs, Karen Junke and Laura Chapman, wanted to move forward with a fresh approach to create an even more engaging event that supports Hospice Care Ottawa.

Each year the event is kicked off with a modest launch in an effort to thank supporters of the holiday tour that takes a peek into some of the city's grandest homes. The thinking this year was to kick-off with the same grand style as the event itself. Savour Every Moment was born and Gail Ryan-Joynt stepped in to chair a stellar evening. Honourary chairs, Jane Panet and Jim Taggart served as gracious hosts at three prestigious, 700 Sussex penthouse condominiums. Tom and Susan D'Aquino, Zita Cobb, and Gaby and Annalee Szabadi welcomed 200 guests into their gorgeous apartments. Their views alone were worth the ticket price. The luxury building sits prominently adjacent to the Chateau Laurier hotel and the top floor vista is breathtaking.

Farm Boy's Josh Drache and Thyme & Again Catering catered the sold-out cocktail reception, with festive décor by Ernst Hupel of 2H Design, along with contributions from Lynette Deir of Stoneblossom floral Gallery. Ernst created a whimsical feeling within the courtyard with a bubble machine. "We couldn't get snow, so bubbles will have to do," said the respected designer who has worked extensively with Zita Cobb, both in her home and her Inn on Fogo Island in Newfoundland. Stoneblossom's sophisticated arrangements, that offered a modern approach to holiday décor, fit perfectly with the contemporary design in both the D'Aquino and Szabadi apartments.

Laura Chapman was thrilled with the response to the unique event and stated, "None of us could have anticipated the excitement Savour Every Moment would generate. We were sold out weeks in advance."

The successful launch sets the tone to ensure that support for Hospice Care Ottawa is significant. The hospice has two locations serving the capital, offering end of life care in a supportive and peaceful environment, at no cost.

This year's tour takes place November 14-16th. Highlights include stepping into eight beautifully decorated homes, as well as a holiday pop up shop at the residence of the Irish Ambassador to Canada. New for 2014 is the tables to dine for at the Orange Gallery, showing off exquisite table settings by some of the capitals most respected hosts.
