National Kitchen and Bath Awards, Ottawa (NKBA)
The fourth annual NKBA, Ottawa chapter, awards for best in kitchen and bath were held on April 26th at the Museum of Nature. The event is growing in size and prestige along with the Ottawa market that holds considerable talent within its budding design industry.

Last years event was somewhat overshadowed by the domination of Design First Interiors sweep of numerous awards, and while the firm won in several categories again this year, there was a balance of talent taking home glass statues for accomplishment in 2013.

Sleek kitchens with functional space seemed to dominate, while more traditional style bathrooms, awash with luxury are clearly on trend. There is no denying that luxurious finishing play a leading role in décor right now. Every detail was seen to in the award winning projects. Crystal chandeliers dangled from ceilings in both contemporary style and traditional décor. Space is highly functional with hidden charms throughout the well-planned rooms. White is notably a colour of choice for cabinetry and on trend counter tops lean towards a slick clean look.
