Chef Ric’s, the unique social enterprise for The Ottawa Mission, has relocated to the space formerly occupied by the Rideau Bakery. Chef Ric’s continues to provide healthy food, an expanded catering service, and, most importantly, the same transformative job training program from the new space. The Food Services Training Program, now in its 18th year, is four months long, and available at no cost to students. They graduate from the life-changing experience with a skill set that allows them to be self-supporting with newfound confidence, pride and dignity. The space offers room to accommodate more students and allows Chef Ric to expand the catering and storefront menu while embracing the warmth and feeling of home that the Kardish family brought to the Rideau Bakery for 90 years.

A Little Cheer

The Christmas Cheer Breakfast is a long-standing, Ottawa Food Bank fundraiser. The annual event is attended by hundreds of professionals and residents in the Ottawa community. This year, CTV’s Patricia Boal and Graham Richardson will host the event in person at the Shaw Centre or you can attend virtually on December 3, 2021, at 8 am. A fantastic line-up of entertainment and music will be on deck to kick off the holiday season, some performing live and others virtually. The goal this year is to raise more than $100,000 to support many local charities focused on food security over the holiday season.
