This holiday season looks a little different than last so rather than do our usual gift guide we’re calling this edition our celebration issue. Not to worry, I still offer up the usual Merry’s Must Haves because, well, ‘tis the season. But homes all around the city will be feeling the urge to rejoice given that last year…okay, I agree—let’s not look back.
While I’m not so naïve as to believe things are all fireworks and popping champagne corks, I do think there is good reason to feel excited about a season that leans towards sharing food and drink with family and friends in a way that feels safe, within a space that calls for rejoicing.
Inside the pages of Ottawa At Home you’ll find community spirit flourishing along with heaps of festive flair found within the homes decked out in celebratory splendour for the annual Homes for the Holidays tour, in support of Hospice Care Ottawa, along with the gloriously spiced up CHEO Lottery Dream Home. The issue hails community and the people who work to enhance the vibrancy that makes Ottawa special.
Regardless of how big or small your celebrations are this season we hope you’ll find time to share in the joys of a renewed hope towards a normalcy that feels celebration-worthy, so much so that you’ll crave a little down time with a good book or, of course, a favourite magazine and whatever libation soothes your soul.
Please join me in raising a glass to the idea of celebrating with those we hold dear and maybe even introducing a new friend or two into the mix. Imagine the possibilities.
Cin-cin,
Merry
