HGTV star and passionate interior designer, Sarah Richardson, hit the capital on April 9th to share her expertise and a collection of new fabrics she has created with Kravet.

The engaging designer spoke to a well-healed crowd at Elite Draperies and Home Decorating, offering inspirations for both professionals and enthusiasts. She spoke about the significance of details in décor stating, "It's the details that make all the difference". Her passion and dedication are admirable, as she claimed that as a designer ‘good enough' is never good enough for her. She strives to always do her best for her clients.

With a thoughtful approach to her design work she stated, "A designers job is to listen to the client and to figure out how to incorporate their spirit into the project" and says that it's her job to take a clients whims and ideas and turn them into good décor.

Good décor happens when creativity combines with longevity, so that rooms showcase the homeowner's signature style while remaining comfortable. Sarah advises that every room in the house should be comfortable and welcoming. Finding your signature style is a crucial component to creating well-decorated space and she suggests looking at your wardrobe. It's a good indicator of personal style that often transfers to décor.

Throughout the presentation Sarah offered sound advice including the dreaded "B" word. A budget must always be established no matter how big or small the project is. Understanding your budget and sticking to it will help to create a successful outcome. Great décor can come from a small budget she assured the crowd!

The Sarah Richardson, for Kravet collection is a direct reflection of Sarah's design philosophy. Patterns are timeless and work easily with each other. The palettes blend and coordinate to take the guess work out. Inspirations come from traditional elements yet offer a modern edge.
