Three incredible days. 21 talented fashion designers. And one brand-new venue that had everyone buzzing with excitement.

This year, Ottawa Fashion Week was bigger - and better - than ever. Contrary to recent reports, Ottawa is most certainly a city with style, and a city that loves fashion. Thousands of people attended the fashionable and charitable event, all dressed to impress.

Top Canadian designers showcased their 2012 spring and summer collection to Ottawa's who's who at the new Ottawa Convention Centre this past weekend.

Over the course of three action-packed days, models sashayed down the catwalk in fabulous outfits that had guests taking notes. My favourite designer was Symbiose, by Hinda A. I found her collection completely wearable for everyday - some pieces for work, some pieces for going out, and some really dazzling pieces for more fancy events.

Rachel Sin was also a crowd favourite, with her sexy dresses with open-back designs. Sin received a standing ovation from the crowd on Saturday night.

In between shows, guests enjoyed several bars that were set up along with live entertainment. The private media and VIP lounge, where invited guests could go to mingle and enjoy the free champagne, was always packed with photographers and journalists alike.

David McCaffrey's bridal and evening collection took everyone's breath away - his flagship store on Sussex Drive is a store I always slow down to look at as I'm driving by.

I had my wedding dress custom-made by McCaffrey Haute Couture in 2003, so their wedding dresses hold a special place in my heart. McCaffrey's wedding dresses were elegant and fashion-forward, incorporating interesting twists like pop colours of black and short dresses.

The show wrapped up on Saturday night with one of Canada's most talked about fashion journalist - and now fashion designer - Jeanne Beker.

Jeanne's EDIT collection was featured on the runway, followed by a silent auction supporting Dress for Success, a not-for-profit organization that provides tools for career development to economically disadvantaged women. It's a charity close to Jeanne's heart.

Ottawa Fashion Week also supported CHEO: The Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario.
