Back to basics
Palettes for fall will show a lot of simple shades, says Sid, including grey, black and white, but also infuse a splash of colour with jewel tones like deep purple, ruby red and hunter green.
Keeping cosy
Fur will be big as cooler temperatures creep in, Sid predicts, trimming purses, capes and other pieces. Tweeds, long sweaters and chic scarves will be another way to cover up in style, he adds, though the “60s look” of very structured, symmetrical silhouettes and menswear-inspired pieces will also make a return.
Luxe trimmings
Accessories will echo a “very Chanel-ish” style with geometrical chain links, metallics, long, layered pieces, glass and jewel tones, Sid continues. He sees fall 2008 as the beginning of “the year of the cuff” with the more, the merrier when it comes to piling on bracelets. Sid adds that fashionistas should also look for “fab ornamentation” – including plumage – on bags, plus those purses will just keep on getting bigger.
Let the sun shine
Eco-trends will continue into the fall, and with them, a resurgence of wooden accessories normally the domain of spring and summer months, Sid says. Another summery trend – animal prints – will also continue to shine, but will move towards more exotic options like giraffe or lizard, with darker prints like chocolate brown replacing tans and beiges.
